Hibernation mode is in full swing this time of year slowly waiting for spring to arrive and the snowstorms to be a thing of the past. The cure = continue to be a hermit but maybe mix up the venue and go hibernating in a forest.
Before I continue rambling on let’s get back to the hermit lifestyle tips. Hibernating in a forest is awesome. Well you’ve learnt how to Live Like A Pig, and what better location than The New Forest to fully unwind.
When you’ve slept like a baby and after you’ve splashed about in the tub or freestanding shower – head on down for breakfast.
All good mornings begin with eggs and avocados. If you don’t agree, I’m sure we won’t be friends.
But there’s plenty to choose from on the menu. Farm fresh goods lined up on a striking rustic table, waiting for you to serve yourself.
Starting the day dining in a conservatory booming with natural light and the most EPIC floor is exactly my kind of hibernation. Hopefully you’ll be in agreement.
Now your belly is full and your morning coffee has kicked in, pull on some wellies and wander around the grounds. The fresh country air is always good for the soul.
Don’t panic it’s not time to go on a hike. Just keep strolling through the gardens, and say hey to the locals Boogie & Spot en route.
Keep meandering across the waters, spying on the gigantic coral carp.
Until you reach signs telling you to keep quiet. If your curiosity has got the better of you sneak on up to the Potting Shed…
A rustic shed surrounded with potted plants that also serves as a treatment room. Yes, what better way to hibernate than in a cosy little corner on the waters edge?
Although this isn’t your massage spot today, head back through the gardens until a pastel pink hut catches your eye in the distance.
Keep quiet and skip on up to the Shepherds Hut ready for a blissful spa treatment in the cosiest spa you’ll ever visit.
The timber clad hideout feels so cosy with the smell of timber and the wind rustling outside. The scents of spa goodness waft throughout the hut.
Pop your clothing on this charming little chair. Don’t worry the therapist will step out until you’re ready.
Lay back and relax being pampered is what you deserve – hibernation never felt so sweet.
Eventually reality will creep in, you’ll leave the hut drifting in a lazy daze. You’ll find yourself back by one of the fires sipping on tea.
Jump in the car and slowly meander through the forestry lands of the New Forest.
Ok the wheels aren’t included but keep that daydream flowing.
The moment you get close to the forest, horses will come to greet you intentionally blocking the road. Causing you to stop and admire their beautiful coats and chilled nature.
Take a walk through a canopy of trees capturing more horses strolling around wildly.
Eventually you might even find some energy, and climb a few trees whilst you’re out and about.
Some say the country air is good for the soul after all.
Crunching on leaves and chilling on benches is a must for today’s agenda.
If you’re lucky you’ll see deer strolling through the conservation lands. Admire the light trickling through the tall forest trees and natures finest.
Before heading back home, stop by a local pub for a hot choccie, piled high with whipped cream and marshmallows.
And by now you should be fully equipped to master on the hermit ways, book your chilled trip here.
Happy hibernation!
I live 10 minutes away form The Pig! It’s a beautiful retreat, isn’t it… Did you have a good time? Where else did you visit whilst in the New Forest? I love hearing about peoples experiences of visiting where I live 🙂

You lucky lady! If I lived that close, I think I’d try and secretly move in on the weekends. I loved it there! We actually had a very chilled weekend, spent a lot of time lounging at the Pig. We visited Highcliffe castle and the Bolderwood deer trail. I’m desperate to go back and see/do more – any tips would be very welcome!;)
These are really very cool pictures. This forest is nice. Thanks for sharing the post.
I can’t recommend a trip to the New Forest more! I am keen to see what it looks like in Autumn… Imagine how pretty the trees will be then!
