Designers constantly need to see new cool things to keep those creative vibes flowing and bring fresh unique ideas to the drawing board or walls shall I say.
A spot that seems to tick that box is the Design Store, created by Staffan Tollgard it provides a hub for leading design brands housed under one roof. The Design Store mixes well-known incredible suppliers together producing a well sought out interior setting.
We arrived at the brightly lit showroom ready to explore the Belgravia based design home.
The first piece of eye candy that stood out as we stepped foot in the showroom was a collection of Contardi’s Belle lights. The perfectly formed pendants are sculpted with a simple shape but mix dark matt finishes with glossy bronze internal finishes suspended on a contrasting tied rope.
A further few steps forward I discovered the De Castelli sideboard that was clad in a bronze finish. The Yoroi sideboard was inspired by the armour of a Samurai hence the heavy fierce design.
The curved shape helps soften the piece, and I love that it cleverly has curvaceous side doors housing hidden internal drawers that add an additional point of interest.
The space has an array of different lighting suppliers that are spread out throughout the store. The Flos pendant adds drama alongside the mix of exceptionally crafted furniture.
Another brand that Staffan Tollgard present is Bocci, a well loved designer that are elegantly positioned suspended above the dining table creating a soft romantic element.
Petrified wood seems to be popping up all over the place, these side tables are hand crafted with wood that is millions of years old originating from Indonesia.
The fusion of nature verse luxury creates a striking balance in the interior.
Timber textured sideboard that I thought was truly striking with its geometric forms and 3d facetted effect.
Emmemobili pride themselves as providing an ‘excellence in wood’ this was definitely demonstrated in the quality of their furniture.
Vibia is a designer based in Barcelona presenting unique contemporary lighting. The collection has a rather project specific style as the designs are very distinctive but display a completely unique design.
Kevin Reilly lighting is a brand I’m always keen to squeeze into projects as the collection is seamlessly finished by artisans and provide simple but stunning mood lighting.
Taking a time out from all the meticulously crafted furniture and lighting we visited the pop up portable toilets, I’m not one to spend time taking photographs in toilets but wasn’t expecting what I walked into.
Inside the portable toilet I was shocked by the glowing pink atmospheric bathroom with prominent shadow gaps and recessed LED lighting. I opened a door with surprise as murals of female icons were splashed across the walls.
If only all portable loos could be this refreshing and clean, Glastonbury festivalgoer’s will agree I’m sure.
Back to the Design Store we go, this sculptural armchair by Ceccotti was simply beautiful and rather comfy.
In between admiring all the stunning elements we obviously enjoyed plenty of bubbles and chatter, alongside testing out the furniture because the key to any well-appointed interior has to be comfort surely.
Piet Boon tick that box with this lounge chair that has the smoothest leather contrasted with slick steel frames.
I thought Contardi’s spin on lantern lighting had a cool twist displaying a fun feature in the interior space.
Toasting to another design day done, we enjoyed the rest of the evening before skipping past this stacked installation and merrily headed home.
