Museum on a Friday night is not the usual way to let loose after a busy week, but before you panic there was a bar.
I decided to visit the V&A Friday Late that is an event that runs on the last Friday of each month.
All the beautiful shades of the Bocci installation glisten amazingly against the white architectural details above.
Every month a different creative community takes over and this event Hackney’s cool kids took over.It is a great excuse to check out live music, fashion, short films, installations, debates and DJs all under the stunning surroundings of the V&A Museum.
I arrived straight after work, feeling slightly tired but ready to explore. I headed over to the bar that was already booming all the way out to the entrance lobby. Unsurprisingly, as this is a free event with great entertainment it can get pretty rammed. As most Londoners know it’s hard to find inexpensive ways to hang out in the city sometimes.
Feeling perfectly relaxed we perched against a pillar sipping beer, catching up and listening to live music under the incredible murano glass sculpted chandelier.
Before we got too comfortable we thought we’d go and explore.
We became hypnotised by this short film that reminded me of looking through a kaleidoscope.
The first carpet I’ve ever seen made out concrete, with carved details.
The graffiti sweet shop was vibrant and quirky, it made a huge contrast against the traditional museum space.
We admired the gardens that were beautifully lit up with colourful lights.
We enjoyed the rest of the musical performances from above.
It was an inspirational and fun way to spend a Friday night, we enjoyed our cultural trip and definitely recommend exploring the next V&A Lates event.
