My usual companion for a glass of champagne tends to be dainty canapés served at a design related event. Sometimes they’re so delicious and each mini mouthful leaves you feeling ready for your next mouth-watering bite.
Although, other times after a few glasses of bubbles the teeny tiny canapés can leave you feeling desperate for a hefty portion of something less decorative, oozing badness and maybe just a touch of grease.
I’m finally getting to my point (phew I can hear you say) so on a sunny weekend my friends and I decided to indulge in champagne with a hefty hotdog for a change.
I was keen to visit Bubbledogs in Fitzrovia, after seeing interesting photos of the interior and the hype I’ve read about it since it first opened. I’d wondered how the combination of champagne and fast food would work together and be expressed in the design.
The interior itself is a pretty tight space; hence the long queues to get inside on the several occasions I’ve tried to visit. We sat at the bar that was beautifully clad with a copper finish and chose our desired bubbles. The shiny metallic bar surface worked incredibly with the contrasting exposed brickwork walls.
The reclaimed timber cladding walls and flooring, created a warm rustic space.
Hanging from the ceiling were suspended glass ball lights that created a relaxed ambience in the industrial vibe interior.
Against the brick walls a mixture of frames were displayed at varying heights with light-hearted artwork enclosed.
The design added to the chilled space ideal for devouring a hotdog and glass of champagne without being at all pretentious. After all who wants to be in an uptight environment when catching up with friends and smearing hotdog all over your face.
We selected our chosen fizz and debated which hotdogs to go for. In an effort to not pick a safe option, I opted for the weirdly wonderful Mac and cheese hotdog eager to try something different. I tucked into my hotdog piled high with my messy cheesy topping.
The mac and cheese was good slightly strange in the hotdog, but I still ate every bite. The potato tots went down pretty well.
Our visit definitely made for some comical poses demolishing a hot dog one minute and sipping bubbles elegantly the next.

But I have to admit, you can’t beat a good hotdog from a food truck on the side of the road, especially when London is this lovely outside.
