Chilling in the Suite

Lauren and I headed off to the V&A museum to visit an exhibition, in between us chatting away we hadn’t realised there were engineering works on the tube line and it was impossible to get to the museumFeeling disheartened we debated what to do and then our fairy godmother called.

Our fairy godmother; also known as Lauren’s mum announced she’d been taken to The Savoy for a surprise birthday trip and we must come and join in the celebrations.

With nothing else on our agenda we practically ran over to meet her family at the Savoy.

We headed straight up to the suite and were overwhelmed by the scale of the space and the seriously luxurious interior. Our eyes were almost popping out of our heads, when we greeted Lauren’s parents.

We kicked off our shoes and made ourselves at home, enjoyed a bucket of champagne, handmade chocolates and birthday cake.

The sadness of missing our exhibition was a distant memory.

We explored the suite, the well-appointed interior got my creative juices flowing.

The Savoy London

The traditional interior had an opulent feel with silk wallpaper, silk carpets, gilded details on dark timber furniture, splashes of eglomise mirror, large murano glass chandeliers. The colour palette combined soft greens, golds and splashes of pinks in the floor to ceiling floral curtains.

The solid marble fireplace created a splendid focal point in the reception space.

We ogled over the freestanding bath in agreement that evenings should be spent soaked in a tub filled to the top with bubbles and surrounded with candles.

It really was the ultimate suite for a high-end stay. Lauren and I played house, both decided we wouldn’t be leaving anytime soon.

Once we’d finished nosing around, we raided the mini bar and spent the afternoon relaxing.

Playing tourists in our own city we soaked up the view of the Thames.

Eventually we headed downstairs to explore other parts of the hotel.

Some might say I’m easily pleased, but how often do you see a lift with an upholstered bench inside. It’s the small things in life right?

The unplanned days are always the best, who doesn’t love a bit of spontaneity. Big thank you to the Glynn’s for letting me join in the birthday celebrations.
